Anushka Sharma wishes R Ashwin and his wife as he retires after BGT 2024-25 3rd Teat

Celebrated Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma recently congratulated Ravichandran Ashwin on an extraordinary international career. Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket after the drawn third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 in Brisbane.

Ashwin's sudden retirement was met with shock but slowly everyone came to terms with the announcement. Soon after, fans and former cricketers from all across the globe wished the veteran spinner luck for the future.

Anushka, wife of Virat Kohli, also joined the bandwagon of fans in wishing Ashwin, calling him a 'lasting legacy'. She also tagged Ashwin's wife Prithi Narayanan in the post, shared on her Instagram story.

Ashwin's last Test for India was the pink-ball match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Adelaide Oval. He scored 29 runs across two innings and picked up one wicket.

The Tamil Nadu-born cricketer steps away as the second-highest Indian wicket-taker in Tests with 537 scalps in 106 matches. Former leg-spinner Anil Kumble tops the chart with 619 wickets. He also has 156 ODI and 72 T20I wickets to his name.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli also extended heartfelt gratitude towards Ashwin on the latter's retirement from international cricket. Kohli pointed out Ashwin's match-winning abilities and said that the off-spinner will always be remembered as a legend.

"I’ve played with you for 14 years and when you told me today you’re retiring, it made me a bit emotional and the flashbacks of all those years playing together came to me," Kohli wrote on X. "I’ve enjoyed every bit of the journey with you ash, your skill and match winning contributions to Indian cricket are second to none and you will always and always be remembered as a legend of Indian cricket."
"Wish you nothing but the best in your life with your family and everything else that it unfolds for you. With massive respect and lots of love to you and your close ones. Thanks for everything buddy," he added.

Kohli also embraced Ashwin during the rain break on Day 5 of the Brisbane Test, leading to retirement rumors, which eventually came true after the match ended.
