Indian women's cricket team pacer Arundhati Reddy has been reprimanded for breaching the Level 1 Code of Conduct during the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 fixture on Sunday (October 6) against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium. The reprimand relates to her giving Pakistan batter Nida Dar a fiery send-off after taking her wicket.
The incident occurred in the 20th over of the innings as Nida Dar, who was set, threatened to add a few precious runs to Pakistan's total. With Dar playing a cross-batted swipe, but losing her stumps in the process, Reddy was pumped up at the dismissal. Hence, the 27-year-old gave her a violent send-off.
As a result, she is found to have broken Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, relating to 'using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.'

Additionally, the right-arm seamer has also received a demerit point and it proved to be her first offense in 24 months. On-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Lauren Agenbag, third umpire Jacquline Williams and fourth umpire Claire Polosak leveled the charge. Reddy admitted to the offense and accepted the charge, so a formal hearing was not needed.
"I have worked a lot on my T20 bowling in all stages" - Arundhati Reddy
Having earned figures of 4-0-19-3, the youngster got the Player of the Match award and credited their promising start behind restricting Pakistan to 127. She said at the post-match presentation:
"I have been bowling with the new ball lately. We had a good powerplay, Renuka and myself. We got a good start with the ball. I have worked a lot on my T20 bowling in all stages and it is helping me."
Having bounced back with a six-wicket win over Pakistan after a 58-run defeat to New Zealand, India will next face Sri Lanka on Wednesday (October 9).
