Baba Indrajith ruled out of the ongoing 2024 Duleep Trophy clash between India A and India C due to hamstring injury

India C batter Baba Indrajith has been ruled out of the ongoing 2024 Duleep Trophy match against India A after sustaining a hamstring injury on Day 2, Friday, September 20. The game is being played at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.

The Tamil Nadu cricketer injured his left hamstring while attempting a single on the third ball of the 34th over. He immediately grasped his leg and collapsed in pain. The 30-year-old was carried off the field on a stretcher, with Manav Suthar coming in as his replacement. Before the injury, Indrajith had made a solid contribution, scoring 34 runs off 61 balls, which included five boundaries.

Indrajith had an impressive run in the tournament, scoring a stellar 72 runs in the first innings of the Round 1 match against India D. He continued his excellent form in the following game against India B, notching up another half-century with 78 runs off 136 balls, featuring nine boundaries.


India A take 63 runs first innings lead in their Duleep Trophy clash against India C

India C won the toss and opted to bowl first. Anshul Kamboj shone for India C, dismissing both India A openers, Pratham Singh (6) and Mayank Agarwal (6). Vijaykumar Vyshak added to the pressure, taking two wickets as India A slumped to 36 runs for the loss of half their team.

Shashwat Rawat was the standout performer for India A, scoring an impressive 124 runs off 250 balls, including 15 boundaries. Support came from Shams Mulani (44), Avesh Khan (51 not out), and Prasidh Krishna (34), enabling India A to finish their first innings with a total of 297 runs.

In reply, the top four batters for India C—Ruturaj Gaikwad (17), Sai Sudharsan (17), Rajat Patidar (0), and Ishan Kishan (5)—had disappointing performances. Baba Indrajith appeared steady but had to retire hurt after scoring 34 due to a hamstring injury.

Abishek Porel emerged as the standout player for India C, making 82 runs off 113 balls with nine boundaries. Avesh Khan and Aaqib Khan each claimed three wickets for India A, as India C was dismissed for 234 runs in their first innings.
