India beat Zimbabwe clinically by 100 runs in the second T20I on Sunday, July 7, at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. Courtesy of the resounding win, the visiting team leveled the five-match series 1-1. Zimbabwe had won the opening match on Saturday by 13 runs.

After opting to bat first, India notched up a gigantic total of 234/2 in 20 overs on the back of a strong performance from the top order. After a duck in his debut international match yesterday, Abhishek Sharma made a sensational comeback and showcased his talent on the international stage. He smashed a scintillating 46-ball century to set the platform for a big total.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (77*) and Rinku Singh (48*) also played magnificent knocks to propel the score above 230. Zimbabwe couldn't give much fight in the steep chase as they got bundled out for 134 in 18.4 overs and lost by a heavy margin of 100 runs. Indian pacers Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar scalped three wickets each in the bowling department.

"World champions played like world champions"- Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza after loss vs India in 2nd T20I

At the post-match presentation, Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza reflected on the dismal loss, saying:

"World champions played like world champions. Much better wicket today, there wasn't much on the track earlier when the bowlers missed the lengths, but dropping four catches definitely hurt us. Expected 200 on that wicket, it was a good wicket and it would still remain the same in the second half, they got 20 odd or 30 odd more."

He continued:

"Would've been a much closer game had we started of well, coming off the half-way, I thought it would be a close game, but the top order hasn't been scoring consistently as it should be. Muzarabani has been our go to guy, he's come leaps and bounces, he's hungry and he'll go a long way."

On improvements and road ahead, Raza added:

"Certainly with the batting, it's a task that we've been talking for a long time, lot more positive today. When it's a pattern, it's very hard to fix when too many things are going on. I'm sure boys will learn from it and get better.

The two teams will square off in the third T20I of the series on Wednesday (July 10) at the same venue.
