"Behavior like that is unacceptable on my cricket field" - WI head coach Daren Sammy on Alzarri Joseph leaving the field during 3rd ODI vs ENG

West Indies head coach Daren Sammy has called Alzarri Joseph's behavior in the third ODI against England unacceptable after the pacer left the field in anger following a heated discussion with skipper Shai Hope. With the series tied at 1-1, West Indies won the toss and elected to field first.

They had England 10-1 after three overs when the altercation between Joseph and Hope transpired in the fourth over. The pacer was unhappy with the field set at the start of the over and demonstrated his anger regarding the same to Hope.

Despite removing Jordan Cox with a snorter off the fourth ball of the over, Joseph did not celebrate the wicket and instantly returned to his bowling mark. He then left the field at the end of the over, resulting in the West Indies fielding only 10 players in the fifth over.

Following the game, Windies head coach Sammy was unimpressed with Joseph's behavior and told TalkSPORT:

"Behavior like that is unacceptable on my cricket field. We will be friends…but in the culture I'm trying to build, that's unacceptable. We will definitely have a chat about that."

Joseph eventually returned at the start of the sixth over and bowled three overs in his second spell before walking off the field for possible treatment.

He completed his spell later in the innings with excellent figures of 2-45 in 10 overs as the West Indies restricted England to 263-8 in 50 overs.

Daren Sammy was elated with the West Indies' ODI series win against England but acknowledged that there was still a lot of work to be done by the side.

The hosts chased down the 264-run target with ease in 43 overs, thanks to centuries from Brandon King (102 off 117) and Keacy Carty (128* off 114).

"I pride myself on having the difficult conversations. But in a way that everybody understands what is needed to be done. To see guys going out there and slowly progressing in the right direction makes me proud. There's still a lot of work to be done, but it's one that I'm quite passionate about," said Sammy.

Right-arm pacer Matthew Forde was the Player of the Series for picking up eight wickets at an average of 16.37.

West Indies and England will now battle in five T20Is, starting in Barbados on Saturday, November 9.
