England opener Ben Duckett and his partner Paige Osborne welcomed their daughter Margot on Wednesday. England cricket's official X handle announced the news.

Ahead of the second Test against the West Indies in Nottingham, England captain Ben Stokes announced Dan Lawrence as the 29-year-old's standby in case the opener will need to be with his partner. Stokes said that the southpaw was desperate to play the match, but the management insisted that family always comes first.

England cricket took to its official handle on X and wrote:

"Congratulations to @BenDuckett1 and his partner, Paige, on the birth of their daughter, Margot. A new member of the @EnglandCricket family."

It remains to be seen if the 29-year-old will play the third and final Test against the West Indies in Birmingham, given he might need to spend time with his partner and daughter.

The opening batter misfired in the first Test at Lord's, but hit top form in the second game of the series. With Zak Crawley out cheaply in both innings at the Trent Bridge Stadium in Nottingham, the southpaw scored briskly. His flurry of boundaries in the first innings in Nottingham helped England register the fastest team fifty in Tests in just 4.2 overs.

After making 71 off 59 deliveries in the first innings, the 29-year-old smacked a 92-ball 76 in the second. With West Indies batting big in their first innings and scoring 457, the hosts had to set a big target.

The tourists made a promising start in pursuit of 385 in the fourth innings, but eventually collapsed to 143. Shoaib Bashir's fifer was instrumental in triggering a collapse as England won by 241 runs. Chris Woakes and Gus Atkinson took two wickets each in the fourth innings of the match.

The third Test will commence on July 26 at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham.
