The 21st match between Rashmi Medinipur Wizards and Servotech Siliguri Tigers was reduced to a 12-over per side contest, which the Wizards won by eight wickets.
The Sobisco Smashers Malda have taken command of the 2024 Bengal Pro T20 standings, boasting an impressive four wins out of five matches played. With eight points and a formidable net run rate of +0.881, they have established themselves as the team to beat.
Hot on their heels are the Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers and the Rashmi Medinipur Wizards, with eight and seven points, respectively. The Kolkata Tigers have won four of their six matches, while the Wizards have won three of their six matches. The Tigers hold a slight edge with a superior net run rate of +0.466 compared to the Wizards' +0.307.
The Adamas Howrah Warriors and the Murshidabad Kings find themselves positioned in the middle of the table with six and five points, respectively, and have net run rates of -0.139 and +0.454, respectively.
Shrachi Rarh Tigers see themselves in the sixth spot with four points in five matches, while the Harbour continue to languish at the bottom of the points table. They have yet to score a point this season, having lost all of their games with an abysmal run rate of -1.294.
Rashmi Medinipur Wizards cruise to a eight-wicket win despite rain interruptions
After being asked to bat first, the Shrachi Rarh Tigers posted 117/9 in 29 overs, with contributions from Sumanta Gupta (12), Shahbaz Ahmed (31), and Ayan Gupta (35). Sayan Ghosh, Karan Lal, and Akash Pandey took two wickets each for the Kolkata Tigers, while Ananta Saha and Saurabh Srivastav ended their spells with one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 118, Lux Shyam Kolkata openers Abhishek Porel (50 off 43) and Karan Lal (38 off 25) provided a blistering start. In the end, the Tigers chased down the total with ease, winning the game by six wickets and four overs to spare.
Batting first, the Servotech Siliguri Strikers posted a competitive 118/6 in the second game of the day. It was a rain-affected game that was reduced to 12 overs. Skipper Ritwik Chowdhury (27 off 15), Abhishek Raman (47 off 22), and Tarun Godara (20 off 15) were the top scorers for the Strikers.
In reply, the Medinipur Wizards made light work of the chase, reaching the target in just 10 overs to win the game by eight wickets. Vivek Singh (56) and Priyanshu Srivastav (36) top-scored for the Wizards, while Rishabh Vivek and Rohit Jumar picked up a wicket each for the Strikers.
