Team India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah crossed a significant milestone on Day 4 (Sunday, December 29) during the ongoing Boxing Day Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Melbourne. The speedster claimed his 200th Test scalp during his splendid spell.

Bumrah became the first-ever bowler in the history of the game to claim 200 Test wickets with an average of less than 20. The 31-year-old is the fourth fastest to the feat in terms of balls, reaching the 200 mark in 8,484 balls.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya congratulated Bumrah on the achievement. Hailing the ace seamer as the 'best in the business', he wrote on the microblogging platform X:

"200 wickets is such an incredible achievement! Congratulations Jassi. Best in the business."

Jasprit Bumrah breathed fire on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test. He picked up the important wickets of Sam Konstas, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Alex Carey, registering figures of 24-7-56-4. Australia finished at 228/9 at stumps, stretching their lead to 333.

"He bowls jaffas, that's the truth" - Dinesh Karthik on Jasprit Bumrah

Former India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik lauded Jasprit Bumrah's ability to bowl snotters consistently. He emphasized that the bowler creates a lot of pressure by dishing out good balls, which ultimately leads to wickets.

Praising Bumrah's fantastic spell on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test, Karthik told Cricbuzz:

"His first spell was really good but when he came back in the second spell, he got Travis Head. He bowls jaffas, that's the truth. The pressure of him bowling jaffas gets you wickets. Fantabulous what Bumrah is doing. Really running out of superlatives.
"Like what Beethoven is to music, Bumrah is to bowling. Beyond the uniqueness, there is also mental character that comes along. Towards the end of the day he literally bowled his heart out. India, Rohit Sharma, and everybody who are cricket fans are blessed to have Bumrah," he added.

Jasprit Bumrah has been the standout performer with the ball across the two teams in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He is the leading wicket-taker of the series, with 29 wickets in eight innings at an average of 13.24.
