Former Australian cricketer Justin Langer has heaped massive praise on Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna who put up a good show with the ball in the fifth Test match of the 2024-25 Border Gavaskar Trophy series in Sydney. In what was his third Test match, Prasidh Krishna picked up six wickets overall with three wickets in each innings of the encounter.
Having won the game by six wickets, the hosts not only clinched the series by a 3-1 margin but also ensured their spot in the 2025 World Test Championship final slated to be held at the Lord's Cricket Ground from June 11-15. They will now go head-to-head against South Africa to successfully defend their title which they won by defeating India at the 2023 World Test Championship final at the Kennington Oval in London.
Meanwhile, despite being a part of India's Test squad in the five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy series, Prasidh Krishna missed out on featuring in any of the first four games. The Bengaluru-based player eventually got an opportunity to don the jersey in the fifth Test match after speedster Akash Deep was ruled out of the clash due to a stiff back.
Impressed with Krishna's wicket-taking abilities, former head coach of the Australian men's cricket team Justin Langer spoke highly about the 28-year-old. Langer opened up by saying on Star Sports (via crictoday),
"He can become a great bowler like Glenn McGrath if he bowls in the right areas. He is still young and hasn’t played a lot of cricket but he has got talent and skills to trouble the batters. I am impressed with his ability to take wickets."
Prasidh Krishna will join fellow Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj at Gujarat Titans during IPL 2025
At the 2025 IPL auction, Krishna was bought for ₹9.50 crore by the Gujarat Titans, where he will be joining his fellow Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj. He has so far turned out for two franchises in the IPL - the Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals- ever since making his debut in the cash-rich league against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in May 2018.
While his stint at Kolkata lasted four seasons, he represented the Royals for three years. In the 51 IPL matches he has played, Prasidh Krishna has taken 49 wickets with his best figures being 4/30.
