Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy showcased his prowess with the willow for a third consecutive innings on Day 1 (December 6) of the second Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test in Adelaide. The 21-year-old excelled in his debut Test in Perth, scoring a valuable 41 in the first innings with India reeling on 73/6.

Nitish displayed his attacking skills in the second innings with the side pushing for a declaration, smashing a 27-ball 38*. The right-hander took off in the Adelaide Test from where he left off in Perth with another vital 42 off 54 balls.

Coming in with India reeling on 87/5, Nitish mixed defense and attack beautifully, shepherding the tail-enders manfully. His knock included three boundaries and as many maximums, including a stunning six over covers off Mitchell Starc and a reverse sweep maximum off Scott Boland.

Nitish's knock had fans on Twitter praising the budding all-rounder in awe with the following reactions:

The praises continued for Nitish Reddy with one fan saying:

"Can we have Kohli & Rohit at 6 & 7 and Nitish Reddy at 4 please."
"What a day for a young gun!!! What a player he is!! Bow down to Nitish Kumar Reddy everyone," tweeted a fan.
"After Virat Kohli and Hardik pandya..Nitish kumar reddy is gonna be clutch player for India in multinational tournaments," a fan said.

Nitish Kumar's heroics take India to a total of 180

After a solid start of 69/1, Team India endured a dismal collapse to find themselves at 141/8 in the pink-ball Test at Adelaide. However, Nitish Kumar's valuable 42 helped the visitors past 150 to a final first-innings total of 180.

With consistent swing and seam movement on offer, ace pacer Mitchell Starc produced outstanding figures of 6/48 to stifle the Indian batters. He was well-supported by Scott Boland and Pat Cummins, with the duo picking up two wickets each.

For India, several batters got starts with as many as five crossing 20 but none registering even a half-century.

Yashasvi Jaiswal registered a second duck in three innings to start the Australian tour, with a brilliant 161 in the second innings at Perth sandwiched between the two. However, his opening partner KL Rahul and the returning Shubman Gill added 69 for the second wicket before the untimely collapse kickstarted with the former's dismissal.

With the lights taking effect, Australia have just begun their first innings against a buoyant Indian attack that ran through them in both innings of the Perth Test for scores of 104 and 238.
