India cricketer KL Rahul is excited to join the Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of IPL 2025, which will commence on March 14. The 32-year-old, who was released by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) before the mega auction, has been acquired by DC for ₹14 crore.

The Karnataka batter will add great value to the team, provide stability to the batting order, the flexibility to keep wickets, and the potential to lead Delhi in the upcoming season. Rahul shared his excitement with the fans, expressing his enthusiasm about joining the Capitals. He said (via Delhi Capitals Instagram):

“Hey, guys. I’m super happy to be joining the Delhi Capitals. A new journey begins for me with the Delhi Capitals and I’m super excited. The squad looks really good. Can’t wait for the season to begin and come to Delhi and play at the Kotla and entertain all of you. See you guys there.”

The seasoned batter has an impressive IPL record, amassing 4,683 runs in 132 matches at an average of 45.47, including 37 fifties and four centuries. His best season came in 2020 when he scored 670 runs in 14 games for Punjab Kings and claimed the Orange Cap.

Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal also shared his enthusiasm about signing KL Rahul, highlighting that the batter has consistently been a match-winner in the IPL and will bring immense value to the team. Speaking to the press during the auction, he said (via Free Press Journal):

"We were looking for stability in the top order, someone with experience who can build the innings. And, I think KL Rahul, given his record in the IPL, he's someone who's consistently given more than 400 runs every season. I think with the Kotla wicket, it is going to suit his game. We're very excited to have him."
