Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are set to feature in the Test series against Bangladesh at home. India will host Bangladesh for a two-match Test series which commences on September 19, with the first Test to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The second Test will be played at Kanpur from September 27 to October 1, 2024. After the Test series, the two nations will also compete in a three-match T20I series. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma recently retired from T20Is after playing vital roles in leading India to a historic triumph at the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup.

The experienced duo will be seen in action once again during the Test series. The two Tests will hold importance particularly as they are a part of the World Test Championship. Both the senior batters will be keen to contribute and make the most of playing at home.

Virat Kohli has featured in 113 Tests, 295 ODIs, and 125 T20Is for India. On the other hand, India's Test captain Rohit has played 59 Tests, 265 ODIs, and 159 T20Is for the country.

Ahead of the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Virat has played nine ODIs, one T20I, and four Tests at the venue. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has played eight ODIs, two T20Is, and as many Tests at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have particularly done well in Test matches at this venue, where batting is generally not as easy due to the spin-friendly conditions and tricky surfaces. Hence, their performance in the Chennai Test against Bangladesh, who are known for their spin bowling, will be crucial.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the leading run-scorer in ODIs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. He has played nine ODIs at the venue and has amassed 422 runs, the most by any at the venue. These runs have come at an average of 46.88, a strike-rate of 82.74 with a high-score of 138. Apart from the hundred, he also has four half-centuries in the format at the venue.

His impressive record in white-ball cricket at the venue can be further seen as he has the third-highest individual score in a T20I at the MA Chidambaram stadium. Having played just a solitary T20I at the venue in 2012, Kohli scored 70 runs off just 41 balls with a strike-rate of 170.73.

Rohit Sharma has not had a successful white-ball record at the venue in international cricket. Having played eight ODIs here, he has managed to score only 140 runs from seven innings at an average of 20 and a top score of 36.

He has played only two T20Is at the venue and his performances do not highlight a good record either. Rohit has scored just eight runs from the two T20 games here in this format and has scored four runs each in the two games.

However, when it comes to Tests, Rohit Sharma has a staggering record at the MA Chidambaram stadium, where he has been quite successful. He has played just two Tests here but has accumulated 205 runs from four innings. His average of 51.25 is impressive as well.

Both these games were against England, where he also scored 161 runs in an innings, which is also his highest Test score at the venue. The 161-run knock came during India's first innings of the second Test in Chennai in 2021.
