On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, County Championship Division One 2024 saw a total of five matches.

Durham elected to bat first and scored 587 runs in the first innings before bowling out Essex for 339. In the third innings, they declared at 184/8 and set a target of 433 but the game ended in a draw as Essex scored 208/2 on day four.

In the second game, Kent were bundled out for 244 and Lancashire replied with a total of 549/10 in the second innings. However, Kent couldn’t achieve the target as they were restricted to 222, resulting in an innings and 83-run win for Lancashire.

The third and fourth games between Northamptonshire vs Somerset and Hampshire vs Warwickshire ended in a draw.

Surrey won the 40th game against Worcestershire by an innings and five runs. They had set an impressive score of 490 in their first innings and then bowled Worcestershire out for 212. Enforcing the follow-on, Surrey prevented the opposition from reaching the target, leaving them short by a few runs.

David Bellingham (888) continues to dominate the run-scoting leaderboard after scoring a half-century and a 28-run knock in the previous game against Essex.

Essex’s batter Jordan Cox (763) scored 32 runs in the last game and retained the second position in the table while Ollie Robinson (744) smacked his season-best knock of 198-runs and occupied the third spot.

Alex Davies descended to fourth with 712 runs in eight innings, averaging 59.33, while Dean Elgar jumped from ninth to fifth with 707 runs to his name.

Jamie Porter picked up three wickets on Wednesday and moved from the second to the top spot with 32 wickets.

Sam Cook (29), who dropped to second, and Daniel Worrall occupy the next two positions with 29 wickets each.

Meanwhile, Dillon Pennington claimed five wickets against Somerset and took his tally to 29 wickets to hold the fourth spot.

Liam Dawson slipped to fifth rank with 28 wickets in his tally, including one four and five-wicket hauls.
