Yorkshire crush Derbyshire with an innings and 204 runs; Gloucestershire and Glamorgan play out a thriller

Derbyshire elected to bat first against Yorkshire in the 33rd game of the tournament at Queens Park, Chesterfield. It was a decision that proved costly, as they got bundled out for a mere 76 runs in just 27.4 overs. Yorkshire bowlers Vishwa Fernando (5/30) and Jordan Thompson (4/31) bowled in tandem to rout Derbyshire for an embarrassing total.

It seemed like Yorkshire were batting on a completely different surface as they went on to pile a mammoth 451/9 in 101.5 overs, courtesy of James Wharton (188 off 241) and Jonathan Tattersall (107 off 178). Going into the second inning with a deficit of 375 runs, the game was done and dusted as Derbyshire couldn't do much, losing the game by an inning and 204 runs to Yorkshire.

Glamorgan opted to bowl first in their game against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham. The first innings saw Gloucestershire score 179 runs and in reply, Glamorgan scored 197. Gloucestershire took full advantage of their second innings as they racked up a colossal total of 610/5 in 116 overs, setting a target of 593 runs for Glamorgan. Chasing 593, Glamorgan were 592/9 when their last wicket fell and the game was dramatically tied.

Leicestershire put up a score of 179 in their first innings against Middlesex. Lewis Goldsworthy top-scored for Leicestershire with his 41 off 68 deliveries. Middlesex bowlers Ryan Higgins and Toby Roland-Jones took four wickets each. In response, Middlesex could only score 86 runs in their first inning as Ben Mike and Ben Green ran riot through Middlesex's batting lineup.

The surface in the second innings was relatively easier to bat on as Leicestershire batters Lewis Goldsworthy (75 off 97) and Ben Green (77 off 86) helped their side reach a total of 372. Chasing 465 for victory was always going to be difficult, as Middlesex fell short of the target by 123 runs.

The game between Northamptonshire and Sussex at County Ground, Northampton, turned out to be a low-scoring affair, with Sussex scoring 143 in their first inning. Sussex's batting performance was followed by Northamptonshire’s 97. However, in the second inning, Sussex managed to compile 237 runs in 73.1 innings, which proved to be a bit much for Northamptonshire as they fell short of the target by 63 runs.
