Trinbago Knight Riders pummeled St Kitts & Nevis Patriots by 44 runs at Warner Park in the third match of the CPL 2024 season. The big win for the Knight Riders helped them secure top spot on the CPL 2024 points table with a formidable NRR of 2.200.

Guyana Amazon Warriors slipped to number two on the six-team standings. The Warriors secured a thrilling win in their opening game of the tournament. Their NRR stands at 0.150 at the moment.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, with a win and a defeat from two games, are ranked third with an NRR of -1.075. Antigua & Barbuda Falcons crashed to two successive defeats to be positioned fourth with a dismal NRR of -0.100.

Barbados Royals and St Lucia Kings are yet to play their opening games of the CPL 2024 season.


Nicholas Pooran headlines big Knight Riders win in CPL 2024

Batting first, the Trinbago Knight Riders amassed 250/4 from 20 overs. Explosive wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran top-scored with 97 off just 43 balls. He launched seven fours and nine sixes in his turbulent knock and shared a 122-run stand with Keacy Carty after the powerplay dismissals of openers Sunil Narine and Jason Roy. Carty himself clubbed an unbeaten 73 from just 35 deliveries with nine fours and three maximums.

Anrich Nortje picked up figures of 2/37 for the Patriots while Ryan John and Tabraiz Shamsi chipped in with a wicket each.

Chasing 251, the Patriots could manage only 206/8 from their 20 overs, with an attacking 38-ball 56 from Mikyle Louis being the highest score. Tristan Stubbs also blasted three fours and three sixes in his 19-ball 39 after a fiery start from opener Evin Lewis (39 off 23). Ryan John made 25* from 12 balls during the death overs, but his sizzling cameo merely reduced the Patriots’ margin of defeat to 44 runs.

For the Knight Riders, legendary spinner Sunil Narine unfurled the spell of the match with figures of 2/24, while Josh Little struck twice with the new ball. Waqar Salamkheil also claimed 2/41 in the high-scoring game.
