Sydney Thunder captain David Warner took a blinder to get rid of Ashton Agar in their Big Bash League (BBL) 2024/25 fixture against the Perth Scorchers at the Sydney Showground Stadium on Monday, January 13. The dismissal occurred in the 14th over of the innings sent down by right-arm speedster Mohammad Hasnain.
With Agar trying to drive a short and wide delivery outside off, the left-hander had mistimed it. However, Warner was quick to put in a dive and gobble the ball above his head, taking the catch rather comfortably.

David Warner fails with the bat but Sydney Thunder coasts to decisive win
Despite the skipper falling for only eight runs off seven deliveries, the Thunder were able to post a competitive 158 in their allotted 20 overs.
Sam Konstas top-scored with 53 off 42 deliveries and was amongst the three batters to reach double figures. Tom Andrews' 37 not out of 13 deliveries, laced with three fours and as many sixes, was decisive in getting the Thunder to 158 in 20 overs.
Despite failing with the bat on Monday in Sydney, the former Aussie opener is still the leading run-getter of the edition with 324 runs in eight innings at 54.
With the ball, Chris Green (3/13) and Nathan McAndrew (2/21) had starred for their side to bowl the Scorchers out for 97 to register a 61-run win. The Thunder consolidated their top spot with a fifth win in nine games.
The Scorchers, meanwhile, are languishing at the bottom of the points table with six defeats in nine fixtures. The Thunder will next face the Sydney Sixers on January 17 while the Scorchers will lock horns against the Adelaide Strikers on January 18.
