South African pacer and Punjab Kings' latest auction acquisition, Marco Jansen, rewrote his best figures with a seven wicket haul on Day 2 (November 28) of South Africa's ongoing Test against Sri Lanka at the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban. The two teams are squaring off in a two-match Test series, which comes under the World Test Championship.

Being asked to bat first under overcast skies, South Africa scored 80/4 in 20.4 overs on the opening day of the Test when the remaining two sessions were washed out due to rain. Play resumed on Day 2, with Sri Lankan pacers picking up wickets at regular intervals and bundling out the Proteas for 191. Temba Bavuma (70 off 117) and Keshav Maharaj (24 off 35) were the majority contributors with the bat in hand, helping Sri Lanka get to that total.

When bowling in the second innings of the match, Marco Jansen was handed the responsibility of bowling the second over of the Lankan batting essay. Jansen went wicketless in his first over, but post that, returned with wickets of Pathum Nissanka (3 off 12), Dinesh Chandimal (0 off 4), Angelo Mathews (1 off 16), Dhananjaya de Silva (7 off 12), and Prabath Jayasuriya (0 off 3) to complete his fifer.

Soon after, Jansen would return to knock the batting tail off. He dismissed Vishwa Fernando and Asitha Fernando as Sri Lanka were bowled for 42. Jansen registered his best figures of 7/13 in 6.5 overs . This will come across as positive news for the fans of Punjab Kings, who acquired his services at the recently concluded IPL Mega Auction for ₹7 crores.
