Delhi Capitals (DC) Women have announced their retained players list ahead of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction. The franchise have retained 14 players and released four, with the list announced on Thursday, November 7.
Under the leadership of Meg Lanning, the runners-up from last season have held on to their core group. Key players, including Lanning, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Alice Capsey, Marizanne Kapp, Radha Yadav, and Jess Jonassen, are all retained.
Meanwhile, the Delhi-based franchise have released three Indian players — Ashwani Kumari, Poonam Yadav, and Aparna Mondal — along with Laura Harris. DC will have four slots to fill at the auction, including one available overseas spot.
Delhi have come close to winning the tournament, reaching the final in both seasons, only to end up on the losing side. In the inaugural season, they were defeated by Mumbai Indians and in the 2024 edition, Royal Challengers Bengaluru stood in their way. Under Meg Lanning’s leadership, the team will want to go all the way in the 2025 edition.
List of players retained by DC with the price tag
Jemimah Rodrigues (₹2.2 crore), Meg Lanning (₹1.1 crore), Shafali Verma (₹2 crore), Alice Capsey (₹75 lakhs), Annabel Sutherland (₹2 crore), Arundhati Reddy (₹30 lakhs), Jess Jonassen (₹50 lakh), Marizanne Kapp (₹1.5 crore), Sneha Deepthi (₹30 lakh), Minnu Mani (₹30 lakh), Radha Yadav (₹40 lakh), Shikha Pandey (₹60 lakh), Taniyaa Bhatia (₹30 lakh), and Titas Sadhu (₹25 lakh).
DC purse for WPL 2025 auction
The salary cap for all franchises has been increased from ₹13.5 crore to ₹15 crore for the 2025 season. Delhi Capitals have allocated most of their purse to retain their core players. As a result, they have only four slots remaining to fill in the upcoming auction.
With ₹2.5 crore left in their purse, Delhi are unlikely to be among the busiest teams at the auction table.
