Former India batter Robin Uthappa had some stern words for "Mr. Fix-It", who according to reports is eyeing an interim stint as captain of the team over the youngsters on the side. The Men in Blue have to now brace for the inevitable transition, with Rohit Sharma unlikely to be in the scheme of things after the Border-Gavaskar series.

Talks of dressing room unrest have dominated the business end of the team's campaign in Australia. However, the cracks were there to be seen right from the start. According to a report by Indian Express, several players eyed the captaincy role when Rohit Sharma missed the series opener in Perth, and wish to take up the role over the unprepared youngsters already in line.

"With Rohit missing the 1st Test at Perth, there were some players, all eyeing the captain’s spot, who were claiming openly that they would have to do something special on the tour. The aforementioned senior member who harbours a desire to be the interim captain, is actively portraying himself as ‘Mr Fix-It’ and it has been learnt that he isn’t convinced that the young guns are ready to take over leadership roles," the report read

Uthappa criticized the "Mr Fix-It" in question, for his selfish mentality rather than thinking of the team in a time where unity is of the highest importance.

"Whoever Mr. Fix-it is, I think, is an absolute disappointment of a human being at this point in time. I think whoever that is, he should be really ashamed of himself at a time when you need to keep the team together to progress a personal agenda is completely, in my opinion, pathetic," Uthappa said in a video posted on his Instagram (via The Hindustan Times)
"You don't put yourself ahead of your team irrespective of how bad things are. At that point in time, you actually double down on your team. You double down and say I'll do whatever is required at that point in time," he added.

The dressing room leaks and unrest are concerning, to say the least, showcasing the dire state the team is currently in. Mystery surrounded Rohit Sharma's absence, whether he opted to rest or was dropped, along with Ravichandran Ashwin's mid-series retirement, making the transition a complicated process.

"Whether it's a senior, not a senior, it does not matter, has to be named and shamed" - Robin Uthappa wants "Mr Fix-It" in the Indian team to be exposed

KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah have all led India in red-ball cricket. Rahul was at one point the designated vice-captain of the side, while Kohli has not been involved in international captaincy since resigning after the tour of South Africa in 2021-22.

"Whoever this person is, whether it's a senior, not a senior, it does not matter, has to be named and shamed. This has to stop. This level of childishness and personal agenda being driven forward at a time when the team needs more unity has to stop," Uthappa added

There was controversy over how the T20 captaincy was passed on from Rohit Sharma to Suryakumar Yadav after the 2024 T20 World Cup. All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who had led the side consistently between the two World Cups, was snubbed by the management.
