India B won the first match of Duleep Trophy 2024 by 76 runs against India A. India A were bundled out for 198 runs in the fourth innings while chasing a target of 275 runs.
India C defeated India D in the second match by four wickets after chasing down the target of 233 runs in the fourth innings. Manav Suthar took a total of eight wickets in the match and won the Player of the Match award.
India C and India B finished the first round of the Duleep Trophy as the top two teams in the table. Both teams earned six points each. India A are in third place, while India D are in the fourth position.

India C won the toss against India D and elected to bowl. India D were bundled out for just 164 runs in their first innings. Axar Patel was the highest scorer and made 86 runs off 118 deliveries. Vijaykumar Vyshak was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Anshul Kamboj and Himanshu Chauhan took two wickets each.
India C didn’t have a decent outing with the bat either and were all out for 168 runs in their first innings. Baba Indrajith scored 72 runs off 149 deliveries and was the lone warrior for the team. Harshit Rana shone with the ball and picked up four wickets for 33 runs.
Half-centuries from Shreyas Iyer and Devdutt Padikkal proved fruitful for India D in the second innings and finished with 236 runs on the board. Manav Suthar was the most successful bowler and took seven wickets for 49 runs. It was the fourth five-wicket haul in an innings for the 22-year-old spinner from Rajasthan.
The top-order of India C played cautiously and helped the team chase down the target of 233 runs in 61 overs. Aryan Juyal was the highest scorer for the team and made 47 runs off 74 deliveries. Suthar won the Player of the Match award for his bowling performance.
India A elected to bowl against India B after winning the toss. Musheer Khan made a stunning Duleep Trophy debut, scoring 181 runs, which included 16 fours and five sixes. He set a record for the highest eighth-wicket partnership in the tournament's history alongside Navdeep Saini.
He made the third-highest score by a teenager on debut in the Duleep Trophy, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's 159. India B posted a total of 321 runs on the board. Akash Deep took four wickets for 60 runs for India A.
India A had a challenging first innings, getting all out for 231 runs. KL Rahul was the top scorer for the team, making 37 runs off 111 balls. The team struggled against the bowling attack, particularly from Navdeep Saini, who took three wickets for 60 runs, and Mukesh Kumar, who also claimed three wickets for 62 runs.
In their second innings, India B were bowled out for 184 runs in 42 overs. The team struggled early, losing wickets quickly, with the first wicket falling at just 13 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for nine runs, followed by Musheer Khan for a duck, and Abhimanyu Easwaran for four runs.
Rishabh Pant provided some resistance with a score of 61 runs off 47 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes. Sarfaraz Khan contributed significantly with 46 runs off 36 deliveries, including seven fours and one six, but the rest of the batting lineup faltered.
In the second innings, India A lost their first six wickets for just 99 runs. KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav remained in the middle and tried taking the innings to a different route. However, Rahul was dismissed in the 40th over after scoring 57 runs off 121 deliveries.
Kuldeep added 29 runs for the eighth wicket along with Akash Deep before getting dismissed in the 48th over. Akash Deep was the last man to depart as India A were bundled out for 198 runs and lost the match by 76 runs. Musheer Khan won the Player of the Match award for his batting performance in the first innings.
