"Even if you see a footballer in public at home, it's not like that" - Will Jacks on Virat Kohli's aura amidst IPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Will Jacks has revealed that he was in awe of star batter Virat Kohli when the duo met for the first time in their IPL camp. He was also taken aback by looking at Kohli's fan following.

Jacks shed light on just how loved Kohli is wherever he has travelled. He claimed that the way he is looked at by people is even bigger than what is seen with star footballers.

Here's what Will Jacks told ESPNCricinfo about Virat Kohli's personality and following:

"When he (Kohli) first walked in and I first met him, that was surreal. Seeing his aura, how people look at him, the following… even if you see a footballer in public at home, it's not like that. It's eye-opening. Everywhere we go - all the airports, every street - the support is incredible."

Jacks also loved the bond that he shared with the other members in the RCB team in IPL 2024 and named all-rounder Glenn Maxwell as someone who gave him a lot of valuable experience.

Will Jacks on RCB's fanbase

When Will Jacks was picked by RCB in the IPL auction, he had an idea about just how passionate and loyal their fans where. However, despite expecting a warm reception, he was in awe of just how quickly the fanbase accepted him and loved him.

On this, Jacks stated:

"Everyone told me their (RCB) fans were the best but now I've seen how crazy it is… I kind of expected it, but it obviously still takes you by surprise."

In eight matches, Jacks has scored 230 runs at a brilliant strike rate of 175.57 and that included a sizzling hundred off just 41 balls against the Gujarat Titans. While he has returned to England for national duty, Jacks played an important role in Bengaluru's sensational comeback to make it to the IPL 2024 playoffs.
