The Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2024 has already seen some exceptional and record-breaking batting performances right at the beginning of the tournament. On Saturday, December 21, Punjab's Anmolpreet Singh smashed an unbeaten century to help his side beat Arunachal Pradesh in their Group C fixture.

The 26-year-old brought up his century off just 35 balls, breaking the record for the fastest hundred in List A cricket by an Indian. The former Mumbai Indians (MI) batter, struck an unbeaten 115 off just 45 deliveries while Punjab were chasing a modest target of 165 against Arunachal Pradesh.

Skipper Abhishek Sharma got out for 10 runs, while Prabhsimran Singh remained unbeaten on 35 alongside Amnolpreet Singh at the crease. Anmolpreet's quickfire unbeaten 115 included 12 fours and nine sixes at a whopping strike rate of 255.55.

The record was previously held by former Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan. During the 2009-10 VHT season, Pathan had slammed a 40-ball ton against Maharashtra while playing for Baroda. He scored an unbeaten 42-ball 108 in that match. Amnolpreet, with his scintillating ton in the VHT 2024-25 clash against Arunachal Pradesh, broke Yusuf's 14-year-old record.

Anmolpreet is now also third on the list of fastest List A hundreds overall. Australia's Jake Fraser-McGurk tops the list with a 29-ball ton while South African great Ab de Villiers is in the second position with a 31-ball hundred.

Shreyas Iyer slams magnificent 50-ball ton against Karnataka in VHT 2024 clash

Mumbai captain Shreyas Iyer also made headlines on Saturday (December 21) with his fiery hundred against Karnataka in their VHT 2024 clash in Ahmedabad.

Iyer smashed an unbeaten 114 off just 55 deliveries, bringing up his ton off just 50 balls. His whirlwind knock comprised five boundaries and 10 sixes, coming at a strike rate of 207.27. Shreyas led from the front with a captain's knock as Mumbai posted a massive total of 382/4 batting first.

Iyer was ably supported by brilliant fifties from Ayush Mhatre, Hardik Tamore, and Shivam Dube as Mumbai put up an exceptional batting display in their clash against Karnataka.
