“Full superstar vibe he has” - Shreyanka Patil shares screenshots of chat with coach over Sam Konstas’ knock on Day 1 of 4th BGT 2024-25 Test

India women all-rounder Shreyanka Patil shared snippets of how her coach Arjun Dev went gaga about Sam Konstas' knock for Australia against India on the first day of the Boxing Day Test on Thursday, December 26. Patil shared screenshots of a WhatsApp exchange with Dev on an Instagram story.

Konstas took the world by storm with his fiery innings of 60 off just 65 deliveries, most of which came against star Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Although the 19-year-old took some time to get settled, he relished playing against the raw pace that Bumrah generated and took him on without being fearful in the least.

Konstas played an array of breathtaking shots during his stay at the wicket, which included a host of ramps and scoops that went up and over the wicketkeeper and slip cordon. India were rattled by this counter-attacking knock from the New South Welshman.

Praising the youngster's knock, Patil's coach wrote:

"Full superstar vibe he has. You should be like this. It should be fun to watch you."

Virat Kohli tried to distract Sam Konstas by bumping into him on Day 1

Konstas, who played just 11 first-class matches before making his Test debut on Thursday, eventually got out lbw when he failed to pick an arm ball from left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja.

During his stay at the crease, Konstas had unsettled the Indians so much that former captain Virat Kohli bumped into him, seemingly on purpose, during the first session. The event, which could have turned volatile given that Konstas was not about to back down, was later diffused by the composed Usman Khawaja.

While Kohli may have felt that it would have distracted Konstas, the authorities did not take too kind a view of his actions. The RCB player, who is one of the best cricketers in the world, and a role model to several youngsters, was fined and handed a demerit point at the close of play by the match referee.
