Gujarat Giants (GG) roped in four players at the WPL 2025 auction in Bengaluru on Sunday, December 15. The Gujarat-based franchise retained 14 players and entered the event with a remaining purse of ₹4.4 crore, the highest among all franchises. They had released six players prior to the auction.
They went all out for West Indian all-rounder Deandra Dottin, signing her at ₹1.70 crore. It is worth mentioning that GG had signed Dottin in 2023 ahead of the inaugural WPL season. However, they released her before the start of the tournament.
Gujarat broke the bank for Mumbai's 22-year-old all-rounder Simran Shaikh, shelling out ₹1.90 crore to acquire her services and making her the most expensive buy at the WPL 2025 auction.
Gujarat also snapped up English all-rounder Danielle Gibson and Mumbai bowler Prakashika Naik at their base price of ₹30 lakh and ₹10 lakh, respectively. They spent ₹40 crore at the WPL 2025 auction and were left with ₹40 lakh at the end of the event.
GG have featured in 16 games in WPL so far and have won just four matches across two seasons. The team will look to come up with an improved showing in the upcoming third season after finishing with the wooden spoon in the first two editions.
