Former Indian captain Virat Kohli was seen involved in a heated exchange with an Australian TV reporter at the Melbourne airport ahead of the fourth Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test. The matter has given rise to speculation once again that were being made about the cricketer leaving India and moving to London.
In an interview with Dainik Jagran Virat Kohli's childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma, made some revelations about the Indian cricketers' plans for the future. He was asked about Virat's plans to leave India and move to London with his family.
From his coach's response, it can be said that the cricketer is likely to settle in London with his wife and Bollywood star Anushka Sharma, along with his children.
“Yes, Virat is planning to move to London. He’ll leave India very soon,” Rajkumar was quoted as saying by Dainik Jagran newspaper.
The reason for this big move by Virat Kohli could very well be related to his concerns with privacy regarding his family and children. Being a celebrity and a well-known figure in India, Virat, along with his wife Anushka, is often subjected to media persons not allowing them enough privacy and space to themselves.
Kohli also also been vocal about his request to not click pictures or film his children. The need for privacy and to keep them away from the limelight at a young age could also be a strong reason for him shifting permanently to London with his family.
Rajkumar Sharma on Virat Kohli's cricketing future
As Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket after the Brisbane Test, Rajkumar Sharma was asked if Virat Kohli would make a similar announcement anytime soon.
However, his childhood coach stated that Virat is super fit and his retirement is not on the cards anytime soon. He also added that Virat could play for the next five years and also sees him playing the 2027 ODI World Cup for India.
“He’s got so much more to give to the game. I’ve known him since he was a kid, and I can say with confidence that there’s plenty of cricket left in him,” he concluded.
