“He was as good a motorcyclist” - When a Bollywood superstar opened up on bonding with a young MS Dhoni [Watch]

Bollywood superstar John Abraham opened up on his bonding with former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni. Appearing on The Ranveer Show (TRS) Podcast in August 2024, John reflected on his bond with a young Dhoni.

Ranveer Allahbadia, the host, mentioned how Dhoni had a similar hairstyle to John Abraham, who also had long hair in his younger days. In reply, the Bollywood actor praised Dhoni, saying he only had good memories with him.

"He (Dhoni) is a very sweet boy. I only have good memories and good things to say about him as he is very sweet," the actor said.

The hosts asked John Abraham whether he had expected MS Dhoni to become a big player back in the day.

"At that time I knew that MS Dhoni was as good a motorcyclist as he was a cricket player. He drove motorcycles really well and he enjoys his motorcycles. Our connect was a lot more on that," he reflected.

On the long hair, Abraham said that Dhoni carrying the same hairstyle was "nice and sweet." He also went on to talk about the mindset of cricketers and sportspersons.

"All cricketers and sportspersons are very clear in their mind if you look at most of them. They are only concerned about their game," he added.

MS Dhoni will feature for CSK in IPL 2025

Dhoni retired from Test cricket in 2014 and called quits on his international career in 2020. The ODI World Cup in 2019 was his last major tournament for India. However, the wicket-keeper batter continued to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and even led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

This time around, CSK retained Dhoni under the 'uncapped player' rule. He will thus feature for the side once again in the 2025 season. However, with Ruturaj Gaikwad handed the captaincy, Dhoni will not lead the team.

Dhoni has amassed 5243 runs in the IPL at an average of 39.12 and a strike-rate of 137.53. He has also scored 24 half-centuries.
