South African keeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen has been fined 15% of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. It took place during the second ODI against Pakistan on Thursday at Newlands in Cape Town. The veteran cricketer has also faced a demerit point, added to his disciplinary.

According to the apex body of the sport, Klaasen breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. It relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

Match referee Richie Richardson imposed the punishment on the 33-year-old. The incident occurred after the Transvaal-born cricketer was dismissed for 97 off 74 deliveries. He became Naseem Shah's third victim of the innings after Temba Bavuma and Bjorn Fortuin. He then hit the stumps after being dismissed.

The third and final ODI will take place on December 22, Sunday, in Johannesburg.

The hosts also have an injury problem in Otteneil Baartman has been ruled out with a knee injury ahead of the third ODI. The Proteas won the preceding T20I series, with the two sides also set to play a couple of Tests, beginning on December 26.
