India’s Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma, T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, and all-rounder Axar Patel recently attended the Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show. The trio had a blast at the comedy show.

In a video shared by official broadcasters Netflix on Instagram, Rohit was seen pulling Axar's leg for failing to execute former India captain MS Dhoni’s signature shot. Suryakumar perfectly mimicked Dhoni’s helicopter six after Axar failed in the guessing game.

Rohit Sharma told Axar Patel:

“Ye to sabhi chakka marte hain, thoda alag tarika se dikhao (Everyone hits a sixer like that. Show something different, do it differently).”

Suryakumar interrupted:

“Mai karke dikhaun, pakad lenge turant (Shall I do it? I will do it. He will get it at once)”

Rohit reacted:

“MSD!”

He then told Axar:

“Helicopter ghuma na (You should have done the helicopter shot).”

MS Dhoni’s helicopter shot is one of the most iconic shots in cricket. The fans are likely to witness Dhoni in action once again in IPL 2025 as the Chennai Super Kings are expected to retain him as an uncapped player in the upcoming retention cycle.

As far as the shot is concerned, several international stars like Rashid Khan and Rishabh Pant have tried to emulate it in competitive cricket. Like MSD, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav’s signature shots are pull shot and scoop shot, respectively.

Rohit Sharma only second Indian captain to lead India to T20 World Cup trophy

Rohit Sharma led India to the T20 World Cup as the Men in Blue beat South Africa by seven runs in the final earlier this year. The 37-year-old became the only second captain after MS Dhoni to win the ICC trophy. With the victory, Rohit also ended India’s 11-year drought of ICC trophies. The Mumbai-born player had also led India to the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup, where they lost to eventual champions Australia.

Rohit will continue to lead India in the next two ICC events – the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final and the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Team India are yet to win the WTC final despite reaching the stage twice in 2021 and 2023, respectively. They will be looking to get third-time lucky.
