Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh slammed an X user who criticized Rohit Sharma and praised MS Dhoni while responding to a post shared by him. The former cricketer hit out at a few other X users as well who tried to troll him.

Indian captain Rohit's decision to opt out of the fifth and final Test of the ongoing Test series in Australia has met with mixed response. Harbhajan is among those who lauded the 37-year-old's move to drop himself from the Sydney Test. He also took on a few users on social media who criticized his viewpoint.

One such fan, while responding to a post from Harbhajan, termed Dhoni as a leader, while describing Rohit's decision to sit out of the SCG Test against Australia as an act of cowardice. The X user wrote (translated from Hindi to English):

"Does a leader run away leaving the team in the middle of the field? The team leader himself has brought us to this state. This is not called selflessness but cowardice, paaji. The leader was Dhoni, who showed the ability to leave out a senior player for the team."

To this, Harbhajan cryptically replied:

"I know who ran away 😎 Should I remind you? I will tell you the reason too. You will get goosebumps."

Rohit missed the first Test against Australia in Perth to be with his family for the birth of his second child. He captained India in the next three games, but managed to score a paltry 31 runs in five innings.

What Rohit Sharma said about his decision to opt out of 5th BGT 2024-25 Test

Speaking to Star Sports during the lunch break on Day 2 of the SCG Test on Saturday, January 4, Indian captain Rohit clarified that his decision to sit out of the game should not be considered as a move towards retirement.

He asserted that he was very much confident of regaining his batting form. The Indian captain said:

"This decision is not a retirement decision. Nor am I going to take myself out of the game. I sat out of this match because runs are not coming off my bat. There is no guarantee runs won't come five or two months down the line. I have seen a lot in cricket that life changes every second, every minute, every day.
"I have confidence in me that things can change, but at the same time I have to be realistic as well," he added.

Rohit has so far featured in 67 Test matches and has scored 4,301 runs at an average of 40.57, with the aid of 12 hundreds and 18 fifties.
