Former India batter Manoj Tiwary has urged fans to watch his full interview before tagging him about his statements on Gautam Gambhir. Tiwary even mentioned that he was open to a debate and willing to answer all queries once fans watch all of his comments.
Manoj Tiwary grabbed the headlines on Thursday, January 9, when his quotes from an interview with News18 Bangla went viral. The former KKR star lashed out at Gautam Gambhir, calling him a "hypocrite" and even claiming that KKR's IPL 2012 and 2014 triumphs' credit went to the India head coach despite a complete team performance.
Naturally, this didn't go down well with Gambhir's fans, who lashed out at Tiwary. Reacting to the reaction, the former batter wrote on X:
"Before taggin me and sharing your opinions on what I said about Gautam Gambhir and what’s happening with the team India. Go through this interview and get it translated and then come back and have a debate with me. I’m ready to answer all the queries."
Tiwary even shared the link to his full interview about the recent controversies in Team India and the dressing room. Playing under Gambhir, the Men in Blue lost 1-3 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia Down Under.
Former KKR skipper Nitish Rana also came out in Gambhir's defense after Tiwary's comments.
"He doesn’t do what he says"- Manoj Tiwary on Gautam Gambhir
In the aforementioned interview with News18 Bangla, Tiwary had lashed out at Gambhir, saying:
"Gautam Gambhir is a hypocrite. He doesn’t do what he says. The captain is from Mumbai, Abhishek Nayar is from Mumbai. Rohit has been pushed to the forefront by them to deal with all the issues.
“What is the use of a bowling coach? Whatever the coach says he will agree. Morne Morkel came from Lucknow Super Giants. Abhishek Nayar was at Kolkata Knight Riders with Gambhir and the Indian head coach has a comfort zone with him."
He further added:
"Gautam Gambhir didn't guide KKR to the title single-handedly as we all performed as a unit. Kallis, Narine, and I, all contributed to the cause. But who took the credit? There is an environment and PR that allows Gambhir to take all the credit."
Tiwary was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders' title-winning team in IPL 2012.
