Former India captain MS Dhoni said he doesn't miss international cricket, having satisfactorily done the best he could during his stellar career for the country. The 43-year-old scored over 17,000 runs for India across formats over a 16-year career, including 16 centuries and 108 half-centuries in 538 outings. Dhoni also remains India's most successful captain with 178 wins in 332 matches.

The champion cricketer led India to glory in three ICC events - the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Dhoni also led India to the No. 1 Test ranking in the world.

Reflecting on his international career during a conversation on the Eurogrip Tyres YouTube channel, he said [via News18]:

"I thought I will get more time, but sadly, I haven’t got much time. I don’t miss international cricket because I always believe you know you think about everything then you take a decision. Once you have taken a decision no point really thinking about that. So I am very happy with God’s grace whatever I was able to do for my country."

He added:

"Other than that, it has been fun. I have been able to spend a lot of time with friends, I can do a lot more motorcycle rides, not the long ones, that’s something very close to my heart. It has been good, family time, daughter questioning when you are coming back."

Dhoni's last outing for India came in the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final defeat to New Zealand.

MS Dhoni credited his parents for his success in cricket and life in general, highlighting how the discipline he exhibits stems from them.

Despite retiring from international cricket, the wicketkeeper-batter continues to play for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL.

"My parents… because they had to sacrifice a lot and I feel a lot of discipline that I have today is because of my parents. Friends are always important, you have a different set of friends when you are till Class 2 and in my case from Class 3 onwards friends changed a bit and then when you go to plus 2 it changes," Dhoni said in the same discussion.

He added:

"So I always felt that friends are always very important part of who you are because it is the friends who can make a big difference. Upbringing helps you to choose the right thing. So, I am grateful to my parents and close friends."

Dhoni will be back in action in IPL 2025, having been retained by CSK as an uncapped player for ₹4 crore.
