Indian opener Prithvi Shaw recently opened up on being subjected to a lot of trolling on social media. He admitted that he keeps a tab on all the memes made on him.
Shaw stated that it hurts him when people troll. He also pointed out how there was a big backlash from fans after a video of him dancing with his friends at his birthday party went viral.
Speaking on the YouTube channel 'Focused Indian', the youngster said:
"Trolling isn't a good thing, but it's not so bad either. Sometimes there we get trolled and we all cricketers see it. I don't know about the rest, but I see them. If there are memes on me, or when someone trolls me, or if someone has posted something, that too. I see all the trolling nand memes, and it hurts."
"I'm not saying that it makes you laugh. That is a bit wrong. You shouldn't do such things. Wherever I go, they say Prithvi is not practising. But I think that it's my birthday. I recently got trolled for dancing with my sisters and friends on my birthday. My sister put it up on social media and I got trolled for that. I think that I can at least celebrate on one day," he added.
Prithvi Shaw announced himself on the big stage with a stunning 134-run knock on his Test debut against the West Indies in 2018. However, he lost his place in the national team following a string of underwhelming performances.
He has often been in the news, albeit for all the wrong reasons. The right-handed batter reportedly lost his place in the Mumbai team during the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy due to weight-related issues.
Prithvi Shaw remained unsold at the IPL 2025 auction
Once touted to be the next big thing in Indian cricket, Prithvi Shaw's career is now in desperate need of a new lease of life. The swashbuckling batter was released by the Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction.
He set his base price at ₹75 lakh for the recently concluded IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. However, not a single franchise expressed interest in acquiring his services and he ultimately remained unsold.
Shaw is currently partaking in the ongoing 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He scored 33 runs from 20 balls in Mumbai's opening fixture against Goa. Mumbai will now take on Maharashtra on Wednesday, November 27.
