India's wrist-spinner Ravi Bishnoi recently said he shares a greater camaraderie with newly selected head coach Gautam Gambhir. The duo have already worked together in the IPL at the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), where Gambhir was a mentor for two seasons.
On Sunday, July 28, Bishnoi delivered a clinical performance against Sri Lanka in the second T20I, picking up figures of 3/26 in his four overs and helping the Men in Blue restrict the hosts to 161/9.
After the match, Bishnoi revealed the advice that Gambhir gave him upon joining the Indian team and how it has proven helpful. Speaking at a press conference, Ravi Bishnoi said (via India Today):
"I am sharing a great bond with Gautam Gambhir as he has been with LSG for two years. He has not asked me to change anything as such. He has told me to do what I am doing currently. His advice was useful to me earlier as well, and now too."
Rain interruption meant that the Men in Blue were set a revised target of 78 in eight overs. They ended up winning the game comfortably with seven wickets in hand and nine balls to spare.
Ravi Bishnoi on Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill
Ravi Bishnoi also shed light on how he is enjoying Suryakumar Yadav's captaincy, recalling his performances under the new skipper in the T20 series against Australia last year. He also praised Shubman Gill for his leadership qualities, saying (via India Today):
"Suryakumar is doing great captaincy. I have played under him during the Australia series as well. He has been good. Shubman Gill's captaincy was also great. In Zimbabwe, he also did great as a captain. They always back me and as a bowler, you cannot ask for anything more than this when the captain backs you. Suryakumar and Shubman have both backed me."
India have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, with the final T20I to be played on Tuesday, July 30, in Pallekele.
