ICC World Test Championship points table (updated) as of November 30 after SA vs SL 2024 1st Test

South Africa have jumped from fifth to second position in the ICC World Test Championship points table after an emphatic win against Sri Lanka. The Proteas beat the islanders by 233 runs in Durban to take their points percentage up from 47.62 percent to 59.26 percent.

Thanks to the win, South Africa have pushed Australia down to the third position. Inaugural WTC winners New Zealand continue to be in the fourth spot, while Sri Lanka have dropped down from third to fifth position because of the huge defeat in Durban.

Marco Jansen was the hero for South Africa in the first Test against Sri Lanka. The pace bowling all-rounder destroyed the Sri Lankan team's batting department with a seven-wicket haul in the first innings. South Africa bowled Sri Lanka out for just 42 runs in the first innings, and then, the Proteas set a 516-run target for the islanders. Sri Lanka batted better but could only manage 282 runs.

Sri Lanka's points percentage has reduced from 55.56 percent to 50 percent, reducing their chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship Final significantly.

India continue to be the number one team in the ICC World Test Championship points table. The Indian side has 61.11 percent points to their name after 15 matches in the 2023-25 cycle.

New Zealand can rise to 3rd position in ICC World Test Championship points table soon

The first Test of the WTC series between New Zealand and England is currently underway in Christchurch. If the Kiwis win that match, they can climb up to the third position, with Australia slipping down to the fourth spot.

A victory for New Zealand will take their points percentage up from 54.55 percent to 58.33 percent. The Kiwis will have a high chance of qualifying for the WTC Final if they record a win in the first Test against England.
