Former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has admitted that he is not a big fan of social media and hence prefers to stay away from sites like X and Instagram. He admitted that his managers often push him to be part of PR activities, but he tells everyone that if he plays good cricket, he doesn't need to do his own publicity.

The 43-year-old has an account on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram as well. However, he very rarely posts updates unlike most of the other past and present cricketers across the globe.

In the latest episode of 'Tread Talks' of Eurogrip Tyres, the two-time World Cup-winning captain opened up on why he is not very active on social media platforms. The Indian legend commented (as quoted by The Times of India):

"I have never been a big fan of Social Media - throughout I have had different managers - I started playing in 2004, Twitter (Now X) almost got popular slightly later on then Instagram came - all the managers are like we should some PR, build this, build that so I looked at all and told the same answer, if I play good cricket, I don't need PR."

Ironically, Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket back in 2020 via social media, sharing a short message with a video that captured the ups and downs of his legendary cricketing journey.

MS Dhoni will return to cricketing action during IPL 2025

While it has been a few years since Dhoni retired from international cricket, he continues to represent Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 43-year-old will be part of the upcoming edition as well, having been retained by the Chennai franchise as an uncapped Indian player for ₹4 crore on the basis of the tournament’s modified rules.

The former India captain, who has led CSK to five IPL triumphs, has represented the franchise in the most number of matches in T20 cricket. In 258 games for Chennai Super Kings, the keeper-batter has scored 5,118 runs at an average of 39.06 and a strike rate of 139.45, with 23 half-centuries. He has also taken 148 catches and has effected 46 stumpings.
