Indian cricketer Nitish Kumar Reddy was honored by Sana Sathish Babu, the Honorary Secretary of the Andhra Cricket Association and Rajya Sabha MP, on Friday, January 10. This recognition comes after Nitish's standout performance in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Despite India losing the series 3-1 and missing out on a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final, the all-rounder caught everyone's attention with his impressive displays on the field.

The 21-year-old scored 298 runs across five matches, averaging 37.25. His most notable performance came in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, where he scored his maiden Test century, making 114 runs in India’s first innings. Additionally, he took five wickets in the series.

On January 10, the Andhra Cricket Association's Instagram account shared a photo of Nitish's visit to their office in Visakhapatnam. They captioned it:

“The cricketing legend from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, who delivered outstanding performance in the international Test cricket series against Australia, visited the ACA office. During the occasion, Mr. Sana Sathish Babu, Rajya Sabha member and Honorary Secretary of the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA), specially congratulated Nitish Kumar Reddy and expressed best wishes for him.”
“He encouraged him to continue displaying exceptional talent on national and international platform. He also assured full support and cooperation from the Andhra Cricket Association in his future endeavours,” it continued.

The right-handed batter has also featured in three T20Is for India, scoring 90 runs, including a half-century, and has taken three wickets with the ball.

“He’s a star in the making” - Former India selector MSK Prasad on Nitish Kumar Reddy

Former India chief selector and cricketer MSK Prasad has expressed his support for Nitish Kumar Reddy's inclusion in the ODI team ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, terming him a rising star. Prasad said (via Times of India):

“People often say that ODIs are a perfect blend of Test cricket’s resilience and T20 cricket’s explosiveness. Nitish has proven to be a rare combination of class and aggression, excelling across formats in his short but impactful international career. Having already seized opportunities in T20s and Tests, Nitish’s exceptional form and versatility make a strong case for his inclusion in India’s upcoming ODI squad against England. His consistency and ability to rise to the occasion also position him as a key contender for a spot in the Champions Trophy squad.”
“India has always celebrated cricketers who can adapt and excel across formats, and Nitish is undoubtedly one such talent. With his performances in Australia, he has not just passed the test but announced himself as a future mainstay of Indian cricket. He’s a star in the making,” he continued.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to begin on February 19.
