Laura McGoldrick, the wife of New Zealand cricketer Martin Guptill, took to social media to share a heartfelt message after her husband announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday, January 8.

The 38-year-old Guptill represented the Black Caps in 367 matches, including 198 ODIs, 122 T20Is, and 47 Tests, scoring 23 international centuries across all formats. He is New Zealand's all-time leading T20I run-scorer, with 3,531 runs from 122 matches.

His 7,346 runs in ODIs place him third on the country’s all-time list, behind Ross Taylor and Stephen Fleming. Additionally, Guptill scored 2,586 runs in 47 Test matches.

On January 9, Laura McGoldrick took to Instagram to write a heartfelt tribute to her husband's remarkable career. She shared:

“Congratulations @martinguptill31 on such a brilliant international career. It's been a privilege to have walked alongside you in this journey. And man we have had some fun. The game of cricket has been very good to us, and although you didn't get the ending you deserved nothing can ever take away from the legacy you leave behind.”
“I know how much wearing that silver fern meant to you. I know how hard you worked behind the scenes and I know how much you love this game. You're one of the good guys. When I asked Harley and Teddy about Daddy's cricket they said they're proud and happy, you're very brave and very good at catching spiders, so there's that. Still more cricket to be played, but congratulations on the end of this chapter. We love you and are incredibly proud of you,” she continued.

Meanwhile, Guptill will continue to play in T20 franchise cricket for the foreseeable future.
