Two Indian spinners have been honored by the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) ahead of the fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test. In a heartwarming tribute, the SCG honored the late Bishan Singh Bedi.

As a tradition, the changeroom for the away team at the SCG features original calico rolls from the scorecard. For the fifth and final BGT 2024-25 Test, the Indian changeroom features two names on display - Bedi and Yadav.

The Sydney Cricket Ground took to their official X (formerly Twitter) handle to honor the legendary Indian spinners.

"As is a tradition at the SCG, the away changeroom features the original calico rolls from the SCG scoreboard that stood at the back of the hill from 1924 to 1984. Bedi and Yadav are the two names on display in the Indian dressing room for the New Year’s Test 🏏," the tweet read.

Along with the message, they also shared a couple of pictures of the two names on display in the Indian dressing room ahead of the New Year's Test.

The other name is expected to be Shivlal Yadav, who played 35 Tests for India between 1979 and 1987. He picked up a five-wicket haul at the SCG in 1986 in a drawn Test.

However, as the post mentions a period of 1924 to 1984, the name Yadav could also refer to Kuldeep Yadav. The left-arm wrist spinner also bagged a five-wicket haul at the venue during the 2019 Test.

It remains uncertain as to who has been referred to in the post as both the Indian spinners grabbed fifers at the SCG.

Can India retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy?

The Indian cricket team is under tremendous pressure heading into the fifth and final BGT 2024-25 Test. The game in Sydney is set to kick-start on Friday (January 3).

After a 295-run win in the opening Test in Perth, the visitors have lost the plot and have struggled so far. They faced a 10-wicket hammering in Adelaide. While they did manage to draw the third Test at The Gabba, it was not a convincing performance overall.

The fourth Test in Melbourne proved to be another disaster as the visitors were on the back foot throughout the game. Eventually, they suffered a 184-run loss and are down 1-2 in the five-match series. With just one Test remaining, India need to win at the SCG to level the series and retain the BGT.

However, given how things have gone and Australia's dominance, the hosts will go in as favorites to claim the honors and the series at the SCG.
