[In Pictures] Team India meet Australian PM Anthony Albanese in Sydney ahead of BGT 2024-25 5th Test

Team India met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Sydney ahead of the fifth and final Test in Sydney, which gets underway on Friday, January 3. Albanese shared multiple pictures with the Indian and Australian players during the special meet.

This was the second interaction between the Indian squad and Albanese as they met during the warmup 50-over game against PM XI in Canberra before the pink-ball Test. Albanese also shared separate pictures with Virat Kohli and Glenn McGrath.

It's worth mentioning that Sydney will witness a sea of pink to support the McGrath Foundation. The charity was founded by McGrath and his wife Jane in 2005 and provides cancer support services.

Anthony Albanese captioned his Instagram post shared on New Year's Day:

“The Australian and Indian teams have already given us an incredible summer of cricket. When the fifth test starts on Friday, the SCG will be a sea of pink in support of the great work of the McGrath Foundation. Go Australia!”

Another Albanese commented on Virat Kohli’s stardom in Australia during the pink-ball warmup game between India and PM XI. He told Star Sports (via Hindustan Times):

“My personal doctor is a huge fan of Virat Kohli - fan isn't quite a word to explain how passionate he is for Virat Kohli. When I told him, I am gonna meet Virat Kohli, he couldn't believe it - he asked me to get an autograph of Kohli.”

Kohli will be keen to turn things around after his lean patch with the bat following his century in the series opener in Perth. The 36-year-old remains critical to India’s success as they aim to level the five-match series 2-2 to help the visitors retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under.

India are yet to lose a Test series against Australia since 2014-15. The tourists, however, are coming off the back of an 184-run loss in Melbourne, trailing the series 1-2.
