England captain Ben Stokes dedicated a special post for his teammate James Anderson ahead of play on Day 3 of the first Test against the West Indies at Lord's. It is the farewell Test for Anderson, as he will bid adieu to international cricket after this contest.

The English team management had a conversation with the 41-year-old pacer earlier this year and reportedly expressed their desire to move on and groom younger fast bowlers with an eye on crucial upcoming overseas tours.

Anderson picked up only one wicket in the first innings, as the West Indies were skittled out for 121 on day 1. Debutant Gus Atkinson stole the show with a seven-wicket haul and provided a glimpse of the future of the England side.

James Anderson then scalped two wickets in the second innings as the West Indies slumped to 79/6. The visiting side are on the brink of a heavy defeat, as they still trail by 171 runs with just four wickets in hand.

As the Test could potentially conclude on Day 3, Ben Stokes took to his official Instagram handle and penned a farewell note for Anderson by sharing a couple of pictures from their journey through the years. Stokes wrote:

"So many memories on the field with the G.O.A.T. The best to ever do it. Ohhhhh Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy……. ❤️

"I would have to say Sachin Tendulkar" - James Anderson on best batter he bowled to in his career

During a recent conversation with Sky Sport, James Anderson revealed the best bowler he faced and the best batter he bowled to in his career. He named three legendary cricketers as his picks. Anderson said:

"The best bowler I have faced, probably Glenn Mcgrath or Dale Steyn. Hard to pick between the two. Slightly different bowlers, both world-class. Best batter, I would have to say Sachin Tendulkar."

Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar engaged in intense battles over the years in England and India. The English pacer dismissed the Indian legend nine times in Test cricket after bowling 350 deliveries while conceding 208 runs.
