Royal Challengers Bangalore slipped from fifth to sixth position in the IPL 2023 points table after a loss against the Gujarat Titans. Playing at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB suffered a six-wicket defeat at the hands of the defending champions on Sunday, May 21.
Bangalore needed a win to qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs. Virat Kohli continued his excellent form and scored another century to help the Royal Challengers score 197/5 in their 20 overs.
Chasing 198 for their 10th win of the season, the Gujarat Titans lost the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha early, but Vijay Shankar and Shubman Gill rebuilt the innings with a 123-run second-wicket partnership. Shankar lost his wicket soon after completing his fifty, but Gill held one end till the 20th over, completed his ton and guided GT to a win.
Mumbai Indians finished 4th in IPL 2023 points table
Thanks to Gujarat Titans' win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Mumbai Indians retained their fourth position in the IPL 2023 points table. MI became the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs. They will take on Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator match on Wednesday, May 24.
