Delhi Capitals secured a 10-run win over Mumbai Indians in the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League 2024 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday.
After losing the toss, Delhi were tasked to bat first. Jake Fraser-McGurk was at his aggressive best, smacking bowlers around the park. Abishek Porel (36) looked good during his short stay at the crease.
McGurk went on to smack 84 runs in 27 balls with 11 fours and six sixes while Shai Hope was thunderous with his 17-ball 41-run knock, featuring five sixes. Tristan Stubbs (48* off 25) and Rishabh Pant (29) propelled the team's total to 257/4 in 20 overs.
Luke Wood, Jasprit Bumrah, Piyush Chawla, and Mohammad Nabi secured a wicket apiece for Mumbai Indians in the first innings.
In reply, Mumbai Indians lost Rohit Sharma (8) and Ishan Kishan (20) quite early. Suryakumar Yadav also followed suit, scoring only 26 runs in 13 balls. Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya (46) built an important partnership to keep their side in the game.
Tim David (37) entertained the crowd in Delhi with his 17-ball knock, including two fours and three sixes. Though Tilak Varma tried his best to take his side over the line, but the asking rate was too high. He went on to score 63 runs in 32 balls with four fours and as many sixes.
