Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has shared a cryptic post amid reports that Gautam Gambhir slammed the players for their below-par performance against Australia in the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Melbourne.

The cricketer-turned-commentator believes such news should not be leaked, indirectly taking a shot at the team management, players, and media at large. Notably, the tourists lost the Test by 184 runs to trail 1-2 behind in the five-game series.

Irfan Pathan wrote on X:

"What happens in the dressing room, should stay in the dressing room!"

As per a report in Indian Express, Gambhir told the players in the dressing room:

"Bahut ho gaya (I've had enough)."

The coach didn't take names while slamming the players for throwing away their wickets in the name of the "natural game." He also warned the players regarding their places in the playing XI for not abiding by the team's strategy.

Notably, the tourists are at the risk of losing a Test series in Australia after 10 years. India's chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) final have also diminished.

India skipper Rohit Sharma has failed to score big in his last 15 innings, managing just 164 runs at an average of 10.93. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has amassed just 348 runs in his last 15 innings, including a solitary century and fifty. The 36-year-old has been getting out similarly (all seven dismissals in the five-game series) while playing around the off-stump line.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant threw away his wicket in both innings during the fourth Test in Melbourne.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid" - When former India captain slammed Rishabh Pant's shot selection in the 4th Test

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar recently slammed Rishabh Pant for throwing away his wicket in the fourth Test against Australia in Melbourne.

The 75-year-old said (via ABC Sport):

"Stupid, stupid, stupid! You've got two fielders there and you still go for that. You missed the previous shot, and look where you've been caught. He should not be going in that [India's] dressing room, he should be going into the other dressing room."

India and Australia will next lock horns in the fifth Test, which gets underway in Sydney from January 3 onwards.
