"It took almost 10 years to get the trophy" - Sneh Rana seeks inspiration from Indian men's team for ICC trophy

India v Australia - Women
Sneh Rana believes the Indian women's team will eventually end their ICC trophy drought.

Indian Women's off-spinner Sneh Rana has cited the example of the Indian men's team while explaining how winning an ICC trophy is the culmination of several years of struggle and hard work. The Men in Blue ended their 11-year wait for an ICC trophy by winning last month's T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.

The Indian women's team also have an opportunity to win their first ICC Trophy, with the T20 World Cup slated to be played in Bangladesh later this year. Rana explained how the Women in Blue have been putting in collective efforts to get the desired results.

Speaking to PTI, here's what Sneh Rana said:

"The Indian women's cricket team, if you look at the past 2-3 years, is doing its best. For (winning) the ICC trophy, let's take the men's (team's example), it took almost 10 years to get the trophy. They have been preparing and working hard for it for a long time. To achieve something big, it will not happen overnight."

Rana has full faith that with persistent effort and having a proper process in place, Indian women's team will end their ICC trophy drought just like the men's team did.

Sneh Rana on India Women constantly wanting to improve

Fielding has been an area for concern in the Indian women's team and Sneh Rana understands all the talk around it. However, she has claimed that no player is too casual to not put in the efforts needed in practice to raise the benchmark.

On this, she stated:

"When we play N number of matches, the chances of errors are more. But it doesn't mean that someone is bad at it. Obviously, as a player, when you are on the field, you want to always do your best for your country. No one is there to say that it's okay, it will happen (ho jayega). (But) it could also be a matter of a bad day for someone."

India are the defending champions of the Women's Asia Cup and their campaign in the 2024 edition of the tournament will begin against Pakistan on July 19.
