Team India spearhead Jasprit Bumrah could reportedly be rested for the majority of India's white-ball series against England. The series, comprising five T20Is and three ODIs, is set to begin on January 22.

Jasprit Bumrah had to pull out after only bowling one over post-lunch in the last Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. He quickly changed into training gear and headed to the hospital along with a few members of the support staff, with scans carried out. Bumrah returned to the dressing room before the scheduled close of play, with fellow speedster Prasidh Krishna mentioning Bumrah had back spasms.

According to a report by NDTV Sport, Jasprit Bumrah could be out for a good chunk of the series against England which will be played later this month. The report also states that this comes as a measure for workload management, with Bumrah bowling in excess of 150 overs across the five Tests he took part in.

Additionally, the grade of Bumrah's injury is yet to be determined. If the pacer's injury is a Grade 1 injury, it will be two to three weeks before he is ready to play.

Should the Grade of the injury be 2 or 3, it could take Bumrah anywhere from six weeks to three months of rest and rehabilitation, potentially ruling him out of the Champions Trophy and the IPL.

"Little frustrating to not be out there" - Jasprit Bumrah after winning the Player of the Series for BGT 24-25

Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged the Player of the Series for Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He played five Tests and picked up 31 wickets throughout. At the post-match presentation ceremony, Bumrah said:

"Little frustrating to not be out there but sometimes you have to respect your body and listen to it. Missed out on the spiciest day of the series, but it is what it is. The chat was about believing. The other bowlers stepped up in the last innings as well. So that was the chat this morning. Lots of ifs and buts. The whole series was well fought and it was not a one-sided contest."

Bumrah also led Team India in two Tests on the tour. He was the Player of the Match in India's only win on the tour in Perth, where he picked up eight wickets across two innings.
