Jharkhand Housing Board has launched an inquiry against MS Dhoni for allegedly using his residential property for commercial purposes. As per Board Chairman Sanjay Lal Paswan, the use of the land for non-residential purposes is deemed illegal.

The concerned land is situated at Harmu Road in Ranchi and is spanned across approximately 10,000 square feet. It was awarded to the World Cup-winning captain by the Jharkhand government for his accolades in international cricket.

However, Dhoni is living in a seven-acre facility on Simaliya Ring Road, which is around 25 km from his previous residence on Harmu Road. It took around three years to build his new home, and Dhoni moved here in 2017 along with his family.

According to India Today, a diagnostic lab has been established at Dhoni's previous residence, which resulted in the authority initiating a probe on the allegations.

If the charges are proved to be true, Dhoni is set to be served a legal notice by the Jharkhand Housing Board.

"The state housing board's rules dictate that plots allotted for residential purposes could not be used for commercial gains. We have received some complaints. I have asked the officials to probe the matter. If the allegations are found to be true, then a notice will be issued to Dhoni," Sanjay Lal Paswan was quoted as saying by TOI.

MS Dhoni made his international debut exactly 20 years ago

The legendary Indian keeper-batter, MS Dhoni made his international debut in an ODI fixture against Bangladesh on December 23, 2004, in Chattogram. However, Dhoni was unfortunately run-out for a duck and did not have a fruitful debut.

But, the former India captain managed to overcome the setback and proved his merit in the coming years and was soon made captain of the Indian team. He then led the national team to title victories in 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy.

The legendary keeper amassed 17,266 runs across all formats at an average of 44.96, with 16 centuries and 108 fifties. Meanwhile, he ranks third on the list of most dismissals in international cricket by a keeper (829 in 608 innings).
