Having taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, India will look to continue their impressive run when they face Bangladesh in the second Test at Green Park in Kanpur starting Friday, September 27. Weather, however, could play spoilsport on the opening day of the Test match. There has been some rain in the city and India's extended training session could not be completed due to the same.
As per AccuWeather, the morning prediction for Kanpur on Friday says that it will be cloudy, while there could be thunderstorms. The probability of precipitation is 65 percent and there is expected to be 100 percent cloud cover during morning time. The temperature will be around 28 degrees Celsius.
The threat of rain and thunderstorms on Day 1 of the second India vs Bangladesh Test persists in the afternoon as well. The probability of precipitation during this phase is 80 percent, while the cloud cover is predicted to be at 99 percent. There is a similar forecast for the evening too.
Will India play home boy Kuldeep Yadav in Kanpur Test?
India beat Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test at Chepauk in Chennai, going in with a combination of three pacers and two spinners. However, experts feel the hosts will be better off with an extra spinner in Kanpur. Local lad Kuldeep Yadav and left-arm spinner Axar Patel are the two options India have.
Kuldeep has an excellent record in Test cricket, having claimed 53 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 21.05, with four five-fers. On the other hand, Axar has failed to make an impact with the ball in his recent red-ball appearances but offers depth in batting with his reliable skills with the willow.
In case India decide to go in with a third spinner, Akash Deep is likely to sit out. The 27-year-old Bengal pacer was under-bowled in the first Test in Chennai. He sent down only five overs in the first innings, claiming 2-19. In the second essay, he had figures of 0-20 from six overs.
