Kaun Banega Crorepati features a question on the new ICC Chairman

The famous Indian television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) featured a question with regard to the position of the ICC Chairman. The show was aired on Friday, September 27.

Indian star actor and legend of the Bollywood industry Amitabh Bachchan, who hosts the show, asked the contestant the following question:

"Who was elected as the new Independent Chair of the ICC in August 2024?"

The options for the above question were: Greg Barclay, Ricky Ponting, Dave Richardson, and Jay Shah.

The correct answer to the above question is the last option - Jay Shah. He was elected as an independent chairman of the International Cricket Council in August 2024.

The question was asked for a sum of ₹80,000 and the contestant managed to answer the question correctly. This was the second instance on Friday of a cricket-related question being asked, with a question about Virat Kohli being asked earlier.

Jay Shah was elected as the new ICC Chairman earlier this year

Earlier this year, Jay Shah was appointed as the ICC Chairman. He held the post of Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) secretary. He now succeeds Greg Barclay of New Zealand as the chairman, with his term beginning on December 1.

The 35-year-old had the following to say on his appointment:

"I extend my heartfelt gratitude to ICC’s Member Boards for placing their trust in me to take over this prestigious role of the Chair of the ICC. I want to assure you that I will do everything possible to elevate the standard of our game across the globe."

Jay Shah becomes the fifth representative from India to don the role of ICC's chairman. Shashank Manohar, Jagmohan Dalmia, N Shrinivasan, and Sharad Pawar were the previous Indians who held the post.
