Kolkata T20 Tournament 2024 Points Table: Updated Standings after Jhargram Firebolts vs Combined Avengers

Plenty of action happened on day two of the Kolkata T20 Tournament 2024 on Friday, January 12. Darjeeling Unstoppables locked horns with Purba Medinipur Dragons in the opening game of the day followed by a contest between Jhargram Firebolts and Combined Avengers.

While Purba Medinipur Dragons defeated Darjeeling Unstoppables by 24 runs to open their account in the competition, Jhargram Firebolts managed to bounce back from the defeat in the last game by toppling Combined Avengers by 46 runs.

With the win, Purba Medinipur Dragon jumped straight to the top with two points in one match. They displaced Alipurduar Thunders at the top with a net run rate of +1.2.

Meanwhile, with a massive victory, Jhargram Firebolts also managed to climb to the third spot in the standings with two points in two games. They also improved their net run rate massively to +0.6.

With two defeats in two matches, Darjeeling Unstoppable have now slipped to the fifth place in the points table. At the same time, Combined Avengers are now at the bottom of the league standings after losing against Jhargram Firebolts with a net run rate of -2.3.

Biswani Dutta’s three-for scripts the bounce back for Jhargram Firebolts

In the first game of the day, Purba Medinipur Dragons batted first against Darjeeling Unstoppables and posted a total of 128/9 in 20 overs. Subha Guchhait scored 39 runs, while Suny Brah contributed with 41 runs. Meanwhile, four bowlers bagged two wickets each for Darjeeling Unstoppables.

Defending the total, bowlers did respond brilliantly for Purba Medinipur Dragons as the restricted Darjeeling Unstoppables 104/5 in 20 overs. Shoumik Shee was the star of the show with two wickets for just eight runs in four overs.

In the second match, Jhargram Firebolts batted first and scored 155/8 in 20 overs against Combined Avengers. It was a combined effort from the batters as four of them reached their twenties.

The bowlers did a wonderful job while defending the total and restricted Combined Avengers to 109/9 in 20 overs. Biswani Dutta led the bowling attack from the front with a three-for, while Furgel Hembram also accounted for two wickets.
