"Looking forward to you" - Athiya Shetty poses with KL Rahul while sharing New Year 2025 post

KL Rahul's wife Athiya Shetty has shared heartwarming pictures with her husband from New Year's Day ahead of the fifth Test in Sydney. She shared monochromatic picture and video with the cricketer, along with a romantic song.

Athiya further penned down a message on Instagram, writing:

"Slow down often, count your blessings. Be kind to your heart, believe in new beginnings."

Rahul tied the knot with Athiya on January 23, 2023 after dating for over three years. The couple announced Athiya's pregnancy in November 2024. In an Instagram story, she wrote:

"Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025."

In a 2024 interview, Rahul credited Athiya for keeping him grounded. He said (via India Today):

"Having someone you go back home to, who loves me and cares for me regardless of my performance on the field (is always great). She is my safe space, she is my escape, she is a lot of things to me. She keeps me grounded. I am very lucky and grateful."

"Move KL Rahul back to opening" - Former Australia pacer ahead of 5th BGT 2024-25 Test

Former Australia bowler Damien Fleming wants KL Rahul to return to his opening role after being switched to the No. 3 spot in the fourth Test in Melbourne. He also backed him to open in the Test series in England later this year.

Th 54-year-old wrote in his column for 'The Roar':

"I’d put Gill back in at No. 3 and move KL Rahul back to opening.With Jaiswal, that is a top three to take to England."

"The word on the street is that Rohit is going to be dropped! He hasn’t looked like getting runs whatsoever, whether batting in the middle order or opening," he added.

KL Rahul has amassed 259 runs in four Tests at an average of 37, including two half-centuries, in the series. The 33-year-old manged 24 and 0 in the fourth Test in Melbourne, where the tourists lost by 184 runs. He will be keen to deliver in Sydney as India aim to level the series 2-2 and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
